The MBBS course runs for 4½ years followed by a one-year compulsory rotating internship in our attached multi-speciality teaching hospital.

The course is recognised by the National Medical Commission (formerly the Medical Council of India) and affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences.

Admission

Eligibility

Passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board, council or university.
At least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together, and a pass in English.
Minimum age of 17 years on or before 31 December of the year of admission.
Qualified NEET-UG. Admission is through the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) — State Government seats for West Bengal domicile candidates and Management quota seats for candidates from all over India.

Course structure

Teaching moves from pre-clinical subjects through para-clinical and clinical departments, with hospital exposure throughout.

First MBBS

Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry

Second MBBS

3 semesters

Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine

Final MBBS – Part I

2 semesters

Ophthalmology, ENT, Community Medicine

Final MBBS – Part II

2 semesters

General Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics

Followed by one year of compulsory rotating internship across hospital departments.
